Our 2024 oral surgery skills course is a collaboration between NEXUS mentors Dr Jonathan Du Toit, (specialist periodontist) & Dr Charles van Niekerk, (specialist MFOS). The course covers fundamental oral surgery principles & aims to improve dentists’ everyday oral surgery skills. The main topics covered & hands-on exercises (on a pig jaw model) include:

  • Low-trauma surgical extraction
  • Oral mucosal flap management
  • Oro-antral communication (OAC) management
  • TMJ myofacial pain & dysfunction management
  • Microsurgical skills & instrumentation
  • Suturing techniques

8 CPD points + 1 ethics CPD point
Certificate available after passing the short exam / assessment.
